They have the privilege to be the oldest political party among the current ones, a rich history brimming with countless authoritative leaders and trailblazers who have trimmed the history of this nation by their ascendancy, they were the pioneer of political leadership in our country .The Indian national congress party, a 134 year old faction who was initially founded to guide the countrymen to claim what was their birthright-Independence, with the objective of seeking representation for Indians in the British Indian legislative bodies. to claim the sovereignty of the nation, to claim their fundamental rights, to prove the whites that we possess leadership qualities and can run the country on our own. Few of its founding members, Allan Octavian Hume, Dadabhai Naoroji, Dinshaw wacha, Womesh Chandra Bonnerjee, Surendranath Banerjee, Monomuhun Ghose, Mahadev Govind Ranade and Wiliam Wedderburn  were renowned leaders.

The fate of the party took a new turn once India attains its independence,  the congress became the dominant party in the country, as anticipated, the party won most of the legislatures as well as the national chair and under the effective mastery of its leaders, it continues to win until 1977, when it was defeated by the Janata party( not Bhartiya janta party ), though, they return to power in 1980 and rule for nine more years, until they were again defeated. In 2004, the INC amalgamate with other regional parties to form UPA: United progressive alliance. The UPA was headed by the INC president Sonia Gandhi, The joint alliance rule the country for ten more years under the anesthetic leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh as the prime minister.

The present members of UPA are:

National Conference | Jammu & Kashmir

Indian Union Muslim League | Kerala

Kerala Congress (Mani) | Kerala

Indian National Congress | India

Nationalist Congress Party | Maharashtra

Rashtriya Lok Dal | Uttar Pradesh

Sikkim Democratic Front | Sikkim

All India United Democratic Front

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha | Jharkhand.

1.       What went wrong?

The current INC, is not the same which brought independence to us, it’s not a party of Gandhi , Nehru or Patel anymore, the party had a rich culture and a unmatchable contribution in the formation of this nation, it was a democratic party till 1967, but then Indira Gandhi took over and the trend of ‘family first’ begun, she demolish all the democratic ways for the election of a leader and began a new ‘peeps’ culture , making sure that her kin will live in prosperity, forever.

2.       What is the current scenario?

The lok sabha elections are running in its brimful stature, but something is different; congress is distressed, the current trend in the air is a clear indication to the political party that it’s time has come to an end, the common man is infuriated, the legislative elections in Delhi last year were real eye-opener, the message is clear: citizenry will not tolerate anymore, the notion to demolish the monarchy and let representative government rule the country is flourishing once again, non-potented leaders are uprising,  a tea vendor is teaching country the lessons of development which he himself have implicated earlier too, at a state level though!

The Lok sabha elections are running in unsurpassable form, it is now very clear that BJP is the most Appealing party, AAP could be the element of surprise however they are not expected to reach the cabinet, their chances of muddling the statistics of other two big parties are obvious, at a broader level its Congress vs BJP. Congress seems to be the least potent party and the chances for them are delicate.

3.       Lok sabha 2014: Exit poll results.

However, questions are being raised on the authenticity of these polls, exit polls usually reveals the true pictures of contemporaneous aftermath.

(A)   ABP News-Nielsen Opinion Poll: Lok Sabha 2014

The Opinion revealed that NDA is set to win 236 seats in the 543-seat parliament while the UPA-II government is expected to win just 92 seats. BJP alone will get 217 seats out of a total 543 Lok Sabha seats. The Congress is projected to get only 73 seats–133 less than 2009 seat position in the Lower House. The Polls distinctly revealed the probability of BJP being the ruling party is unambiguous.

I suggest those with mediocre dreams of watching Rahul as Prime Minister, get ready to have a heartache. Change is the necessity of life, “survival of the fittest’ is an inevitable ongoing process, if changes are in the right direction, we should respect them, they brought meliority to life.
