There were dozens of witnesses who saw the shooter Siddharth Vashisht, also known as Manu Sharma. He was the son of a wealthy and influential Congress-nominated Member Of Parliament Venod Sharma. She was travelling with a male friend who was beaten up and she was raped by six men in total who were on the bus. She died because of her injuries thirteen days later. She wasn’t just raped but was subject to violence too. She had to bear things we can’t even talk about let alone explain. She was taken to a hospital in Singapore to treat her of her injuries but she gave in on December 29th and passed away. Of the six accused men one of them was a juvenile. Ruchika Girhotra Case
The Ruchika Girhotra Case involves the molestation of 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra in 1990 by the Inspector General of Police Mr. Shambu (S.P.S. Rathore) in Haryana, India. After she made a complaint, the victim, her family, and her friends were systematically harassed by the police leading to her eventual suicide. Not just this after she had filed the complaint she was expelled from the school and the reason stated was that it was due to non payment on fees, but the truth was that the school had in fact refused to take her fees and had unjustly expelled her. On 22 December 2009, after 19 years, 40 adjournments, and more than 400 hearings, the court finally pronounced Rathore guilty.
Not being able to bear all of this and after seeing the system fail her Ruchika committed suicide on December 28th, 1993. Even her family had to shift away from that place because they were being harassed. Justice prevalied but after such along time.
These are one a few of the many many cases of violence against the women. These are one the most horrifying cases ever. These cases have shook the entire country and have given shivers to those who have heard about them. It is thanks to the media and the people of our country due to which these women have been given justice. Even though it has taken a long time but justice has indeed prevailed. And it was all because of media and the people who could not take this injustice. I just hope that these incidents do not happen again and the women do not have to suffer this violence.
